How would you describe the new N2N NS2 Vortex Swimming Trunk? Daring or Revealing?

Daring or revealing is a good question, and I guess it depends both on your perspective and where you chose to wear the stunning new N2N NS2 Vortex Swimming Trunk. In ‘dry mode’ these are a very nice pair of swimming trunks that come in three great colours. In ‘dry mode’ there is nothing overly daring or revealing. It’s only when you get the N2N NS2 Vortex Swimming Trunks wet that they transform into something a little more edgy. It’s in ‘wet mode’ the Daring or Revealing question needs to be asked.

Let’s start in ‘dry mode’: The N2N NS2 Vortex swimming trunks are available in three great colours; first up we have the white with blue and silver detailing, grey with orange and silver and jet black with white and silver. The detailing on all three colours comes in the form of two asymmetric stripes above and across the pouch.

The N2N NS2 Vortex swimming trunks are cut to sit low on the waist and quite high on the legs, the result is a side strip of fabric that is substantial enough to keep these swimmers from falling off, yet small enough to maximise your tanning opportunity. On the subject of security, they also feature an elasticated tie cord.

A point worthy of note with the N2N NS2 Vortex Swimming Trunks: The cut is not exactly generous. If you are a borderline size then I’d always recommend you ‘upsize’ so, for example, if you’ve got a 30 inch waist (the top of the Small size range) then I’d recommend opting for a Medium.

Now for the ‘wet mode’ bit. The N2N NS2 Vortex Swimming Trunk are made from a single layer of fabric, even the pouch. There is absolutely no lining on these babies. This does two things, firstly it makes them incredibly lightweight and easy to wear, but it also means when they get wet they leave very little to the imagination. When wet the N2N NS2 Vortex Swimming Trunk cling to everything, I mean everything, and with no lining there’s very little to disguise what you are packing in your trunks. That’s not all, depending on the colour you choose, you may well find your N2N NS2 Vortex Swimming Trunks become a bit on the see-though side when you emerge from the water. The white being the most transparent of the three.

Unless your off to the glacial wastes, you’re not very likely to see snowballs on the beach in the summertime, even less likely I guess to see snowballs in the swimming pool. That’s what makes these winter themed Swim Briefs from Clever Moda so distinctive. With the Snowballs design they’ve created a completely unique and perhaps some might even consider ironic look. I think they are really very cool (pun absolutely intended), but I will resist the temptation to make reference to icy balls!

The Clever Moda Snowballs Swim brief is made from a single layer of very soft, and very stretchy fabric which is totally covered in dots of varying sizes and colours, but all of them sticking to the icy winter colour palette that gives rise to the Snowball name. The swim briefs are topped off by an ice blue waistband which features the Clever logo.

Being single layered and stretchy means these swim briefs will cling to all the important places, they won’t leave you overexposed, but there won’t be any escaping exactly what you are packing in your trunks. A big plus is the well formed and shaped pouch which has a central and two side seams. This will give you abundant support and will keep you looking good no matter how cold the water is.

This means that they feel great on, have the right amount of stretch to keep them safe and secure without doing damage to your circulation and means they are super fast drying. On the subject of sage and secure, to make sure they don’t jump off when you dive in, the Wet Paint swim shorts feature a looped drawstring which is hidden away in the waistband.

Reviewing Pink underwear and swimwear has become a bit of a habit, but all the feedback I get from you guys suggest you love the colour as much as I do. It’s therefore a great pleasure to be able to review this pink treasure from Calvin Klein. CK have produced some great pink inspired underwear in the past, but with this Hipster Swimming Trunks they’ve reaffirmed their commitment to our favourite colour.

So looking past the great colour, are these Calvin Klein Hipster Swimming Trunks worth investing your hard earned cash on? Well for starters you’re not looking at that much of an investment. I really hope it’s not an error in pricing, but at the time of writing this review we found these swimmers on sale for just £22. That’s amazing value for quality swimming trunks – it’s totally outstanding value for big brand swimmers.

Despite the low price point, Calvin Klein have not skimped on quality. These CK Hipster Swimming Trunks are double lined throughout and have a nicely contoured pouch for added support and comfort. And, perhaps, to give you a bit of an ego boost on the beach.

The stylish hipster cut is a little more generous that the racer style, so they’re a little more substantial and offer a little more fabric coverage at the front and across the tops of your thighs. On balance I think I prefer this look to the archetypal “speedo” styled cut.

There’s not distracting contrasting colours to draw attention away from the pink on these swimmers. All the edging and stitching is in the same pink colour. The tie chord in the waistband is also hidden away on the inside. Indeed the only distraction is the small Calvin Klein logo on the front left hip – I think we can forgive CK for that.

As the Hipster Swimming Trunks are part of Calvin Klein’s Spring/Summer 2011 (SS11) collection they are limited edition. Once they are sold out, that’s it. No more. You can’t beat a bit of retro inspired styling to help you look great this summer. Or can you? Well, frankly yes, if those retro inspired shorts come from the Andrew Christian and they are made from his fabulous sports mesh fabric. So you’ve got hot looking, super lightweight, Andrew Christian shorts that are perfect for swimming in or strutting your stuff on the beach or poolside.

Fear not though, despite the fact that these swim shorts are made from Andrew Christian’s Mesh you are neither going to over expose yourself or get sunburn in painful places. The secret lies in the fact that these shorts are made from two layers of AC’s mesh fabric. Still light weight but offering complete coverage.

The shorts also benefit from having two front pockets. This makes them look like a regular pair of shorts, so you are not going to look out of place wearing them out of the water. And for the times when you are splashing around there is a custom Andrew Christian draw cord to keep them nice and secure.

Interestingly, these are one of the few swim shorts that are actually machine washable. Useful if you wear them to the pool a lot and want to rid your shorts of the chlorine smell.

Another new release from Diesel that forms part of their Spring/Summer 2011 (SS11) swimwear line up. Although this is an all new design for 2011 I am really pleased to see that Diesel have carried forward their Only the Brave branding on these Coral Rif Pink Swim Shorts. There’s something about the Only the Brave logo that really appeals to me. I can’t quite put my finger on what it is; I just like it.

These shorter length shorts are the perfect alternative to longer shorts which can sometimes be cumbersome to swim in, or swim briefs which make some people feel self conscious. Diesel’s styling plus the fabric type means these swim shorts don’t cling to every bump and grove, yet they are small enough not to look like you are wearing a balloon when you get in the water.

The pink colouring is great too – Diesel is using pink more and more both on their swimwear and their underwear, which just proves what I have been saying for quite some time now; pink is a great colour for guys.

So, back to the shorts. These are perfect for wandering along the beach, or sunning yourself by the pool, and if you fancy a dip you can dive right in. The shorts are fully lined with a mesh swim brief to keep you all nice and supported. They’ve got an elasticated waist with an external, white, tie chord and they even have a small pocket at the back which is ideal for a locker key or similar.

I’m writing this review on the first Monday after the clocks went forward for British Summer Time. That hour shift of the clock is guaranteed to turn my thoughts towards the summer holidays and having to review a stunning pair of CK swimming trunks is edging me further and further towards the holiday brochures. When I do fly out for my holidays these Calvin Klein Black Island Swimming Trunks will certainly be in my suitcase.

The cut of these Black Island Swimming Trunks is a departure from the normal racer (budgie smuggler) design. They are a bit wider at the sides, over the thighs, and they sit slightly higher on the waist. All together this makes for a contemporary and stylish, almost Brazilian, look. On the whole I’m very impressed by the way they look.

Of course that look is very much enhanced by the all over black island palm tree inspired print which overlays a square patterning of shades of grey. To make sure they stay on you when you dive into the pool, the waistband is elasticated and has an internal draw cord. To keep you from overexposing yourself when they are wet, the Calvin Klein Black Island Swimming Trunks are double lined throughout.

Fruity Purple Plum Swim Briefs from Bum Chums

Great news! The new Men’s Underwear brand, Bum Chums, have extended their repertoire to include a men’s swimwear range. Now there’s no excuse not to be in your Bum Chums. I’m really pleased that this British brand is going from strength to strength; if this pair of Fruity Purple swim briefs is an example of what’s to come then I suspect they’re going to be around for a long, long time. Well done guys! Love the underwear, now loving the Swimwear!

The new Swimwear collection from Bum Chums comes in a delicious range of bright and vibrant colours, but I was particularly taken by this Fruity Purple Plum pair. It really is a gorgeous colour that’s bright without screaming “look at me!”.

The classic racer style cut is offers sufficient coverage to keep you decent, but not so big that you end up with acres of white bits after a session in the sun.

In terms of construction, they’re well made with a folded edge waistband which contains a hidden drawstring. The pouch is double lined for support and modesty and they’re made from a chlorine resistant nylon/lycra mix.

What makes the Bum Chums swimwear even more stunning is the price. We’ve gotten used to paying a fair bit for decent swimwear, then along comes Bum Chums with a high quality, great looking range that sells for less than £20. Yup, really! I couldn’t quite believe it myself, but this Fruity Purple Plum swimmers are just £19 at Dead Good Undies.

Diesel BMBR-Aerial Pink Swimming Trunks

Pink and purple is an ideal colour combination and Diesel have used it to great effect on their new BMBR Aerial Pink Swimmers. It’s great that Diesel continue to bring pink into the mainstream with both their underwear and swimwear. I for one think it’s a great colour on men, especially with a bit of a tan. It’s no longer a ‘brave’ choice to wear pink – and I salute Diesel for their contribution to pink’s masculinisation.

Diesel’s attention to detail is to be commended; it’s the small touches like making the eyelets, from which the tie cord emerges, the same colour as the body. Indeed the tie cord is a perfect colour match for the body too. Round the back there is a large Diesel logo across the bum which perfectly matches the purple of the waistband. Small touches, but touches that demonstrate quality.

Unlike some swimmers, the Diesel BMBR-Aerial Pink Swimming Trunks are not just lined at the pouch; these trunks are double lined throughout. Should you care? Well, frankly yes! Double lining means these swimmers are going to hold their shape really well when they are wet.
